Most arrive with a shortlist, a rough budget window and one specific bottleneck they want solved, whether that bottleneck is throughput on a sewing line, fabric wastage at the cutting stage, colour consistency across print runs, or the number of days it takes to move from a buyer enquiry to an approved sample. That gives exhibitors an unusually qualified audience, and it also creates the central difficulty of the show. When three halls are filled with equipment that reads as broadly similar to somebody walking past at pace, the machine itself is rarely what separates you from the stand two rows down. What separates you is whether a visitor slows down long enough to understand what your equipment changes about their week, their wage bill, their rejection rate or their delivery schedule. The default answer on a textile machinery floor is simply to run the machine, and that will always be necessary, because buyers in this category want to see the head move, hear the motor, touch the stitch and check the finish with their own hands. But a running machine only solves the first half of the problem. It does not show what happens to cost per garment across a full shift, how the same head behaves on a heavier fabric, or what changeover looks like when a unit switches styles twice a day. Those are the questions that decide a capital purchase, and on most stands they get answered weeks later over email, long after the hall has emptied and the memory has flattened into a stack of visiting cards and a spreadsheet nobody trusts. Staffing matters as much as hardware. A stand with excellent technology and an untrained team will underperform a plain stand with a sharp team every single time, so brief your people on a short, repeatable opening line, a clear rule about who runs the screen and who runs the machine, and a qualification framework that separates a genuine buyer from a student, a competitor or a casual visitor without being rude to any of them. Language is part of this. A meaningful share of buyers at Gartex are more comfortable in Hindi or a regional language than in English, so build your interfaces with large type, minimal text, obvious icons and, where budget allows, a bilingual toggle. On lead capture, resist the temptation to collect everything. Name, company, city, machine interest and a single qualification tag such as immediate, this financial year, or exploratory will serve your sales team far better than a long form nobody completes honestly at the end of a tiring day. Tie each captured record to what the visitor actually did on the stand, because a buyer who spent four minutes in the line configurator is a different prospect from one who scanned a code to enter a prize draw. Review the numbers every evening with your team and adjust the next morning, because three days is long enough to correct a weak opening line, a badly placed screen or a demonstration that is not landing. After the show, the discipline that matters most is speed. Contact everybody within the first working week while the hall is still fresh in their mind, lead each message with the specific thing they engaged with rather than a generic thank you, and attach the configurator output or the machine walkthrough they saw. Finally, design for reuse from the outset.
